Murdoc, Russel and 2D, are in the Geep, driving along by a boat yard, down by the sea side. Looking out over the water, the three band members can see lots of people, out on their boats, on what could be described, as a glorious day. Murdoc spots a large speedboat, out on the water, and his eyes sparkles with delight, he licks his lips, and turns to look at the other two.
What would you two say, to a boat ride? He asks, turning his attention back to the road, and rapidly reading the signs, hoping to see one that mentions speedboat rentals. 2D grins from ear to ear, showing the gap in his front teeth.
I'd like ta go on a boat ride. 2D replies, and slides forwards in his seat, looking around at all the different kinds of boats, in the yards, as the car drives by each one. Russel isn't as impressed and wonders what the Bassist is really up to.
Wha's da catch? He grumbles, in a low, deep voice. Murdoc purses his lips in annoyance, but instantly brightens up, when he spots what he'd been looking for. Lurching the car off the main strip, he parks the car out the front of a boat yard, that has a large sign above it, offering boats of all kinds, for rent. The Bassist ignores the large mans question, and shuts off the engine, stepping out and marching directly up to a salesman. 2D and Russel climb from the car as well, and head to the ajoining pier, next to the yards portable office, walking along slowly, the two men look at all the different kinds of boats, while Murdoc talks to the man inside the office.
I like this one. 2D smiles, pointing to a very small, one man sailboat. Russel looks down to where the Keyboardist is pointing, and raises his eyebrow. The little boat, bobs gently in the water, looking to Russel, as though a strong breeze would smash it to pieces, and sink it instantly. The large man rubs his belly, with a hint of concern in his face, and turns away with a grunt, walking over to the other side of the pier, so that 2D can't see that he is not exactly thrilled about the prospect, of climbing into any one, of these tiny vessels. Murdoc appears from the office, and confidently strides down onto the pier.
It's all set, c'mere. He calls, waving them to follow, as he turns and walks down an adjacent pier, towards some of the more larger vessels. 2D and Russel head back in Murdocs direction, 2D quickly walking ahead of the Drummer, who dawdles along slowly, looking back to the safety of the Geep, parked out the front of the yard.
I'm not sure 'bout dis man. I might jus' stay wit da car. Russel calls ahead to Murdoc. The Bassist stops in front of a very large, red speedboat, and looks back at Russel who has stopped walking towards him, and is hesitating by the office. The old man rolls his eyes, and grits his teeth in frustration.
Don't be daft, besides, I've already paid, so git over here. He growls, watching 2D bouncing along the pier, looking for the boat that Murdoc had hired for them. The Bassist waits by the speedboat, for Russel to catch them up, then points down to it and looks to the two of them for a response.
Oooo, thats a nice big boat. 2D grins, Russel shakes his head and shrugs.
You sure it won't sink man. It don't look that big ta me. The Drummer grumbles, and looks back at the Geep. Murdoc turns his head slowly, and looks incredulously at him.
Russ, the QE2 is small in comparison with yer arse, stop bein a baby and git in. Murdoc hisses and hop steps down into the boat. Russel gingerly approaches, and makes his move to join him, when 2D gracefully pushes by, knocking him on the arm. Russel pulls away sharply.
Watch it man! Yo nearly knocked me in da water. He snaps, stepping back from the edge of the pier again. 2D looks over at the large man, and blushes, mumbling an apology. The Bassist grabs 2D by the arm and turns him back to the pier, shoving him forwards.
Out you! He snarls, and walks back over to the drivers seat. 2D furrows his brow sadly and heads to the side of the boat. Russel takes a deep breath, and carefully climbs aboard.
Awww, I'm sorry I knocked Russel. I didn't mean ta, honest. Why can't I come? 2D moans, climbing back out, and onto the pier. Murdoc snaps a look over his shoulder to him.
Wha? Tsk, Moron. I need you to untie the boat, ya pillock. He snaps, pointing to the rope tied to the front of the speedboat. 2D looks to where Murdoc is pointing, and mouths a silent, 'Oh.' as the Bassist starts the boat. Russel settles himself in the passenger seat, beside Murdoc, and grips the side of the vessel tightly, still not entirely sure he trusts it's buoyancy.
Ready to go, Murdoc shouts an order to 2D, who unties the rope from the bollard, and tosses the end back onto the boat. He then makes his way back to the side, to climb back on board, but stops when he sees that there is another rope, tied the back of the boat, and holding it to the pier as well. He goes to point this out to Murdoc, but isn't quick enough. The Bassist, having waited long enough, as far as he was concerned, guns the engine, and quickly turns the speedboat from the pier. 2D panics, and grabs the second rope, fumbling to get it free from the bollard. Having completed his turn, Murdoc guns the engine again, and takes off at high speed, heading for open water. 2D finally frees the boat, just as the rope snaps taut and yanks him high in the air, straight off the pier and into the water, face first.
Russel sits gritting his teeth in the seat, watching the water and other vessels, eyes fixed firmly ahead, too scared to turn or move too much in his seat, for fear of tipping the boat over, and sinking them. Murdoc turns the boat again, to avoid a small yacht, crossing it's wake, mear inches from the back of the boat, and spraying all on board, as he zooms by. 2D, who is still gripping the end of the rope, and being dragged along behind on his stomach, bounces over the wake and is launched into the air again, but fortunately comes down in his feet. He waves and calls out to Murdoc frantically, trying to get either he, or Russels attention. Russel grips the edge of the boat tightly, and for a moment, thinks he hears something odd, he turns a little in his seat, and looks quickly, enough to be able to see directly behind him, but not enough to look behind the boat. Having just seen 2D wasn't in the boat, he calls across to Murdoc.
Muds, I tink ya lef' 2D behind. He shouts, over the roar of the boats motor. Murdoc sighs and looks behind them both, instantly, he spots 2D waving frantically at him. He grins and turns back to the front, keeping the boat on a steady course.
I think he's followin' along quite nicely, actually. He chuckles, and presses the boat to go faster.
